NAPLIC & Voice 21 in conversation: Oracy and DLD, the most common childhood condition you’ve never heard of

Host:

  • Catherine Pass, Voice 21 Head of Programmes

Panel:

  •  Victoria Wadsworth, Chair of NAPLIC
  •  Kara Gourlay, Vice Chair of NAPLIC

Developmental Language Disorder affects approximately 7.6% of all children in primary school (Norbury et al, 2016), which equates to roughly two children in every average class of 30 in the UK. A high-quality oracy education has the potential to support the inclusion of all learners in the classroom - but for this to be realised, we need to make sure the needs of children with DLD are at the forefront of our minds.

Join Voice 21 and NAPLIC to mark DLD Day (October 17) and help prepare you by demonstrating practical strategies for supporting children with DLD through a focus on oracy.
